Saarioisjärvi Forest in August

Below I would like to share with you a poem by Hortensia Pineda. She was inspired to write this beautiful piece after viewing the picture above.... Nature can speak to us in so many ways, it is so incredibly touching and beautiful. Thank you Hortensia, for this shared experience!

My branches reach towards the sun,
My roots attach to Mother Earth,
I AM in transition now,
preparing to support the birth,
A new Earth of love and peace, this is an invitation to join me!
Let us come from a place of pure love, where life is respected, freed, and pure as a dove
I accept you as you are and you accept me , together we will heal our Earth
Together we will sing in joy,
Together we will bring the unconditional love, for every girl and boy.
We will sing the melody of a harmonious choir and our voices will be heard throughout beautiful Gaia. We uplift, heal, and support each other as our new Earth begins its ascension.
It is a joyous occasion,
this time we will not fail,
We know we are each others mirror,
and turning back is to no avail.
So join us on this odyssey,
of freedom, truth and light,
So we can sing together, and together shine bright!
We are each others keeper
So our hearts beat as ONE
There's no more separation,
The battle will and IS won!

Here are some pictures I took on a little trip to our local nature reserve called Saarioisjärvi. I really love this place and I have been going there since I was a little girl with my dad and my uncle on their bird watching trips. There is a really beautiful path trough the forest to the small lake where all the beautiful birds can be spotted.

Below you can see the pictures I took by the lake. We saw two Western Marsh Harriers (Ruskosuohaukka) and we were able to spot their nest on top of this tree on the other side of the lake as well. There were some crows and other birds disturbing the nest so the birds were chasing one another in the evening sky.

Moss and Gentle Forest Flowers

It has been a while since I last posted pictures on my blog. I have been finishing my summer studies for the past couple of weeks in a mad rush!

Here are some more pictures from the Seitseminen national park where we visited a few weeks back.  What amazes me in the forests is the diversity and the ever changing landscape. You could visit a forest a hundred times and you would still find things you have never seen there before.

Forest Spirits in Seitseminen Natural Park

I must say the forest is a magical place beyond imagination. Protected, ancient forests such as this 400-year-old forest in Seitseminen National Park are extra special places that ought to be respected. Fortunately we do have forests, such as this one, still standing and keenly visited by people from all walks of life.   There is definitely a difference between a natural, old and diverse forest and a commercial forest. I just wish we would have more protected forests like this one.

Me and my family visited the forest this week and there was so many people there admiring the beauty of the forest and just generally spending their day in nature. This to me confirms that the Finnish nature is still in the hearts of the people.

I took some pictures in the forest, but I was being attacked by the mosquitoes so it was a bit hard to concentrate! (by the way, I have been using fresh lemon as a natural repellent for mosquitos and it does work! I just had not taken enough care when applying it prior to entering the forest...)

What I was especially drawn to in the forest was the quirky natural formations, that to me look like forest spirits.I do have a vivid imagination, but I am sure others will see them too!

Have a great Sunday evening!

Summer solstice Magic from Rautavaara

It is a magical time of the year, the midsummer solstice. In Finland we have many traditions regarding this special time, usually involving wild flowers and such... So in the spirit of some Finnish midsummer magic I am posting a few pictures I took last weekend in Rautavaara, Finland.

In these pictures there are some exquisite (a word my art teachers loved to use!) lingonberry flowers, arctic star flower and 'northern Labrador tea' or wild rosemary.

Finland is so incredibly beautiful!

Magical weekend to you all!

Haarlem Forest

These pictures were taken in the Netherlands, in the city of Haarlem on 19th May 2014 near the sea in a very special nature park.  This day was a magical, beautiful day and me and Adnan (my husband) spent the whole day in the forest.

Because I love Nature

Hello Everyone!

Today I decided to start a new blog for my nature photography, because I love nature and I sometimes take the camera with me when I venture out... and today I felt inspired to share my photos... so here it goes!

I have always spent so much time in nature, just wondering around looking at flowers, trees, leaves, moss and you know, just the wonder that nature is. I am sure you all know what I mean. But seriously, I could stay in forests for hours on end and not get bored. The truth is that I do not go to forests enough because I know I would end up spending all my time there.... some of you may agree with me... But that is not a really good reason not to go, though.

So to share some of the beauty and wonder of nature that I have seen, I will be posting photographs here... I don't even want to say how often I will be posting, as I just dont know! We will see.

Anyhow, I hope this blog will soon be full of photos and perhaps some of you enjoy them, if not I will just be going trough these photos on my own on the days that I do not have the change to visit a magical forest... so no harm done, right?

Below is a picture that my dad took of me in 1988 in a forest somewhere in Finland... my dad used to photograph rare forests flowers around Southern Finland and this was one of those trips. I know the name of this beautiful and unfortunately endangered flower... but as usual I can't remember it right now! I will post the name once I ask my dad.

Have a beautiful day where ever you are and enjoy some of nature's beauty! :)
